MTI Motors Question
If you had a choice of the 387 all bore pacakage for 6K or the 383 Stroker package they have for $6K also which one would you go with?
What are the pros and cons?

I would go with the all bore motor because the motor will insure that i'm expoiting every possible inch of cfm out of my heads ! Regardless of valves ! Just my opinion, but if i have a BAD AZZ head that flows 340 with 2.08 or so valves ITS GOING ON AN ALL BORE MOTOR ! I might not no what i'm talking about, However, that stroker will not take advantage for your high flowing heads with the big valves in it .. Pound for Pound, Stroker down the 1/4 or All Bore down the 1/4 .............ALL BORE in a HEARTBEAT !

Yes sir I have tried but not sucessfull. I mainly do not know the difference between a bored vs stroked motor, and which has more hp/tq under the curve and what kinda track times etc.

sry. my post prob wasnt very helpful
for the most part, strokers make more torque vs a bore which will make more peak hp. an all bore can see higher RPM's over a stroker motor as well.
Im sure you could see high 10's to low 11's with a mild setup on either. it depends about you car setup.

all bore will probably make more power
Make sure you get the details on the warranty though. There have been several polls on this forum showing how many people have had problems with big bore motors.

I want something like a Vipers low end torque. I know whenever i ride in my friend(s) vipers it feels like that thing can just pull and pull and pull. Yes I realize they have 2 more cylinders lol But which would give me a LOT more low end torque and also give me the capacity to runn low 11's maybe high 10's on motor, and still be dependable for a daily driver?
better check again...shortblock only is $6k...no heads..you have to go to ls1speed or keith kraft to see the cheapest prices on longblocks..~$7k. I dont know if you get what you pay for so I decided to build my own STROKER because I want the torque too and didnt want to worry about the block leaking.
Go stroker and put a big shot of spray on it. A stroker motor is tough as ****. Then throw a 150-200 shot of spray and push yourself into the 9 sec zone! My stock Block with MTI heads, X1 cam and 100 wet shot puts me in the 10`s with 555rwhp. I want a stroker bad and MTI builds the best. They did everything on mine! You Talk about a sweet ride. I love it! Check Sig!!!
I'd go with a moderate compression 383 stroker with ceramic coated Wiseco pistons and Lunati internals, then throw a nice (150) shot of gas on top of it.
That will give you the torque you're looking for and then some!

Try doing a AP or LS1spped cheep street short block for 2800 dollars. This would be a complete shortblock with all good parts. Then buy a SC and run 12psi. Talk about spending a little more money to get a whole lot more performance.
There is a 600+HP all the time setup right there. I am cheep and run Nitrous myself but if I had the money this would defentially be a option in a everyday driver.
Your friends Viper would feel like a Civic.
Just my .02
Anyone agree????

I'm not really sold on forced induction for the LS1/6, so I'd have to dissagree. I did a lot of research before going with a head/cam package over FI. I think FI will eventually be awesome on the Gen III, but it isn't there yet...
