Default Which Intake for my setup

My ls6 intake is a big restriciton so I'm researching what all is involved into going to a fast. My question is which to go to. 90/92/102? I don't want to OVER intake the car I know its possible on the old small blocks but Im not sure of how the LS series responds. Is a 102 too much for a 346? I currently have stock heads but do have plans for a head swap fairly soon in the future

Thanks in advance!

BTW I understand an intake is an external engine part, but I felt it was better suited here due to my internally modded engine

Assuming your mods in your sig are the car it's going on, I would do a Fast 102 combo with a nice set of heads. If money allows, have it ported. You won't regret it!

Well thats just it. Money haha. If it will make 15 with a 92/92 and 20 with a 102 I may have to opt for the 92. I definitely can't get it ported if I do the heads I want as well. But I know it would be stupid to put heads on with the LS6 when it is already whats probably holding me back. Thanks for the reply though. Will I not lose any bottom end power with the 102?

You won't have to worry about to much intake but going with a 90 or 92 I'd be afraid of buying someone elses junk. I've seen alot of people buy them off ebay and find huge cracks and what not. For the money your gonna have in either set up even if I had to wait I'd go with a new 102. Unless your buying one from someone locally. I'd just hate to see you pay for someone elses headache. If you did manage to find one you could go look at before you bought it, with the mods you have I'd say a 92 would be plenty.

You cannot buy a new fast 90 or 92 and as stated above you are taking your chances buying used. May as well just get a 102 and be done with it.

Ok I have a local buddy selling his 102 intake and 102 NW TB. So I'm doing some research now whether I want to put together a 9 inch or go with the Intake combo. Thanks for the advice guys

I asked the same question "FAST or 9 inch" a few monthes back I've got the intake on and the rear on the way but if i were doing one and you actually plan to track the car I'd definately get the rearend. I hate having a car I'm afraid to beat on.

yeah my hang up is its my daily river so i can have ZERO down time and I track the car....but its occaisional and I just run on street tires to save the rear. BUT i would also love to be fast when I do go and not worry about it. I don't think im going to do a fast right now though that also means retune which I just got. If I do anything itll be either a 9 inch or seats and guages.

theres no doubt in my mind i do. I have a connection im working on to get some. I feel like i have some issues though my numbers especially tq are low. how bad would it be to run stage 3 plus 243 heads with an ls6 intake?

what gear are you thinking about going with when you get a new rear?listen i agree a good fast intake is kinda hard to find but there out there , my buddy got a mint 90 intake for 500 bucks shipped, and as far as porting them goes you can do that easy, is a ls6 as good as a fast no, but i would swap intakes after the heads, rearend etc, in my book swaping to a fast is the last mod,

Im either going to go 4.11 or 4.00 with the new rear. I was thinking about doing my interior mods and an oil cooler like Ive been wanting to do while in the meantime fabbing my 9 inch. Then purchase the heads and Fast. Let those pile up in the floor and get it retuned after the Heads, Fast, and custom true dual setup ive been planning for longer than I can remember
