My trans am is an 01 with a 5.3 in it, point blank period all i want is a low 12 second car that is reliable and can be driven daily because this is my daily driver to work and school.....turbo seem like too much for a daily and supercharger is a lil out of my budget right now. I just installed a 3k stall yesterday made by transmission specialties with anti balloon plates, and will be installing 3:73 gears and a girdle later this week, im tryna work around the motor for now til i figure out if i wanna mod the 5.3 or buy an ls1 or 6.0 to drop in if the 5.3 is not gonna reach my goals. I have a 222/224 cam from comp, i figured that would make the motor up....i already have longtubes, lpp ypipe, magnaflow catback,untuned, ls6 intake and i feel faster than most ls1 cars round my way....so should i just mod what i have or save my money for some else? i dont wanna spend lots of loot on this motor and a stock gto or g8 comes and whoops my ***, i love torque so i wanna lots of that in a powerband where my car is usually everyday, which is idle-5500. So should i cam it or buy some else to drop or can my goals be reached by the mods im naming and a good tune?

Put the gears in and take it to the strip and see what you come up with then

With ur mods u should be close to a 12 sec car. Get it tuned and go to the strip 2 see what it does

any writeups on gear swaps? ill be getting tuned this weekend
