Default Check out this PCV idea!!!

I built it but it was Jay Johnson and me's brain child. It's basically an aluminum mesh filter sandwich built into the valley cover.

What do you guys think?

i'm sorry, i may be retarted, but what is it's purpose? realeasing crankcase pressure? seems like the odds of getting some sort of muck into the motor with that would be greater...????

No way! Have you ever seen how much dirt gets under the intake? Might as well throw a handfull of dirt in the motor. Also, what about washing the motor, thats out now too. Sorry man, I thinks its a bad idea.

I'll stick with either the LS6 PCV system OR and LS1 valley cover and a set of breathers (no PCV)

Bad idea, IMO. Not only can dirt and water now get into the motor, it can also throw oil out of it where it can collect under the intake and eventually seal up that mesh screen. That's an engine rebuild waiting to happen, a ticking time bomb.

Actually its not going into a daily driven car its going into Jays 408 race car. and there isn't a lot of dirt build up under the intake its under and around the intake ports.
loks like no one likes the idea but we'll see how it does.

Do you realize how much oil is going to be spit out of that thing??? The PCV system has baffles to help seperate the oil from the air. If you are getting that much blow-by, you should think about sealing up the cylinders a little better. Just my $0.02.

I like the idea, and considering the environment it'll be in, It's relatively safe to say that there's no concern of water/grit getting into the engine to do damage. The only downside I can see is that an optimal PCV system actually creates a vacuum in the crankcase, to help speed oil drainback and cut down on frothing of the oil from it's detergents. The setup you made will only equalize the crankcase pressure with the outside pressure and not deliver that optimal vacuum condition.

All in all, your welds look fabulous, the ingenious is definitely there, and from what I know of your resources on hand, it's relatively cheap to free It'll get the job done, just not as perfect as you may want it. All in all, though I love to see the ideas that a creative mind and budget consience racers come up with. Without them, we'd all be stuck buying overpriced aftermarket parts for EVERYTHING!!
