Default Forged Build Options For My DD Pig

Since the vette is going back stock and being sold I figure I'll build a reliable forged LS for my old 97 Z71 and just drive the wheels off the thing. I'm overly fed up with the LT engine. I've milled over a couple of options I have and am not sure which one to go with so I figured I'd get some second opinions.

Option #1 372ci

LS1 Block that I have in the shop
Eagle 3.900 Forged Crank (reason for this crank is I can get one for $300)
Scat Forged I-Beams
Probe Forged 3.899 Flat Top's with reliefs
Probably stage 2.5 LS6 or 5.3 heads
LS2 Intake with a 92mm TB
10.8:1 ish compression

Option #2 402ci
LQ4 Block that I also have
Scat Forged 4" Crank
Scat Forged I-Beam 6.125's
SRP Forged Power Pack 4.005 Flat Tops with reliefs
821 LS3 Heads, Possibly Milled
LS3 Intake and 92mm TB
10.5:1 ish compression, maybe more if milled

I know that usually displacement rules but I'm looking for opinions. This isn't going to be you're little 3000lb race rig. It probably is pushing close to 5000lbs. Money differences in the two are less than $300 so that is no issue. Let me know what yall think and if needed ask more questions.

For the weight of the truck, I'd go with the cubes too

Go ahead and bore the 6.0 block .030 and make it a 408.. Thats 6 more cubes son! Id agree that option no.2 sounds best for the weight of the truck. Should make nice power

Yea this is the way I was figuring it would turn out ..

I honestly don't mind either way, the only one thing that was even making me lean at the LS1 is the extra $300 or so I'd have in my pocket and that it might save me a little on the fuel. But with a stroked 370, in a full weight ec/sb GMT400 Z71, running 35's, who's counting? I don't think 30 CI is going to make that much of a difference in fuel mileage anyway. I just hope that it gets better than the L31, 12mpg average is rough.

May just do .030, since it's setting at the machine shop getting the mains checked. Any clearancing needed with the 4" crank and the smaller I beam 6.125's on an Iron block?

If you are going with a ci where you can use a stock crank id go that route. Stock cranks can handle plenty of power but if you are going to a 402 or something then might as well put a forged crank in. Youll for sure want the larger cubes and more torque to move that pig.

Yea I'm not quite sure yet about what I'm going to do. Once I get the vette gone I'll be more focused on it.
