Ive done it with the stock bolt. Not easy, and not a great idea...but you can make it work. However...you are more patient than I and having one overnighted was a great idea. Good luck on the rest of your install

This is a good thread, thanks for all of the great ideas.

One question though, the last time I installed my pulley I could feel that the threads in the crankshaft were getting kind of funky, if you know what I mean.
Can you run a tap in the crankshaft without tearing up the tap, I just figured that the material in the crank was too hard?

All crank pullies that I have pulled off other motors had a "Woodruff Key" in the crank snout. They came off and re-installed easily. I have not looked at my LS1 but if it does not have a "keyed" crank; it is some kind of GM design screw up. If it is "keyed" then grind/hone out the pulley a small amount so it would fit easily. That is what I would do.

I don't think a GM design screw up is very accurate! There is no need for a keyed crank on a stock LS1 because of how the ignition is managed. (No timing marks on balancer etc...)

The only time a key becomes necessary for an LS1 is during supercharging applications where much more stress is put on the crank pulley...
