pickup tube bolt problems....

just installed my oil pump last weekend and now i've got that gut feeling that something is wrong. when i tightened the pickup tube bolt to the proper specs it gave a little before the wrench "clicked"....

i jerked on the tube and moved it around, and it seemed like it was tight, but i would rather not have it drop when the engine is installed and running.

would the oil pump threads be destroyed, or more likely the bolt threads?

any advice would be appreciated!

When i did mine it kinda had the same feeling. The threads on the pump were stripped. installed a new pump.

that's what i'm worried about...its a brand new high volume gm pump.

steel bolts, aluminum housing. You already know which one stripped.

went with the BRP oil tube girdle and fixed the threads on the pump....should have put the girdle on from the get go. it was worth the $25.
