I'll say get a 6.0. I was confused on what to do my self. Get a 6.0 or rebuild my ls1.
The best option in my opinion is to get a second motor to build it up.
A spare motor is always good. You neve know!

Going from a 5.7 to 6.0 is 14 cubes difference...which is about 18hp difference on an identical set-up, in the 450hp range. That is equivalent to about 2 car lengths in the quarter. I would get a 6.0 and drive the 5.7 while your building it.

I'd get a 2004+ LQ4 with low miles on the short block
It will have 9.4:1 compression with 6.7cc dished pistons
The newer blocks come with forged connecting rods & floating wrist pins.
Also the 317 factory LQ4 aluminum heads are a good choice for FI with a good CNC port.

I recommend starting with a separate engine. That way you can take your time to do it right while not having the down-time with your current engine. Find a good deal on a complete 6.0 (<$800) and that is the way I would go.
