I dont really know a whole lot about the engine could someone please tell me what running lean and detonation is.

Running lean = not having enough fuel for the amount of air the engine is ingesting.

Detonation is when you get explosion of the air fuel mixture early by means other than spark ignition. This usually results in intense pressure in the cylinder which can destroy pistons among other thing

 

Something you don`t want at all! Bad for your motor!!
