Default 98 ls1 engine harness question for an 89 firebird swap

Hey guys, I didn't know quite where to post this. I'm doing an ls1 swap into my 89 firebird and I have a 98 camaro donor car. I don't want to use the 98 pcm and would rather use an 99-02 pcm. I've heard that you can repin the 98 harness to work with the 99 pcm. Is this true? And if so is there anything else I need to do to the harness or engine or would I just be better off getting a 99 harness?

repinning's not that bad, there is a lot of wiring info over at lt1swap regarding pcm pins, colors, etc. good to see another 3rd gen swap in the works

You will save a ton of time, and have piece of mind just running the correct harness,,mistake one wire on repinning and no telling what may happen. I have seen harnesses on this site go for around 100 bucks.
