Default Ls6 Main girdle options?

Since I am tearing my road race motor down for the winter I figured I'd see about adding a main cap girdle if it makes sense.

motor is only putting down @ 400rwhp, rev's to about 6500 max.

Is it worth it

anyone know who sells one relatively cheap? i saw a few listed for nearly $600 which is insane!!

NOT needed for your type of power and racing level imo.

there really no reason but if you want have the mains pinned. most people do it when pushing over 800hp or 8k rpm and higher.

Thanks, the main thing that prompted this is the fact the stock oil pan is supposed to be "structural" and since I added an aftermarket pan, wasn't sure if it would help. Thanks for the feedback.

What would be the negative? Just curious. GM was slated to use them from the factory but, found the block design to be plenty strong and didn't want added cost to production, right? I will agree most do not need it but, seems to fall in the same catagory of a girdle for valve trains. Just another way to add rigidity.

ok, fair enough. It just shows that when GM engineered the block to be stronger than previous designs, by default it turned out to be way beyond what could be imagined. I still shake my head in disbelief on what these LS motors are capable of.
