408 stroker big cam surging at idle

Default 408 stroker big cam surging at idle

i just had a 408 stoker put in my zo6 and we did the fast 102 intake with the 92mm tb. this may just be a tuning issue but i cant get it to idle vary well. it wants to surge at idle. what might this be?

More than likely a tune issue. Has it been tuned at all?

it has a break in tune on it. the lowest we could get it to idle is 1,100 rpm any lower it wouldnt idle without shutting off when letting of the throttle on a roll

That's real high even for a big cam. The tune needs work. What size cam?

That is pretty high idle, I got my 408 idling at 825 rpm with a 244/244/ .610 113+3 cam it drives so nice due to countless of hours tuning it. Have the tuner work on it some more. and some more.

I've had tunning issues about idle. I've had several tunners TRY! It pisses me off to drive it sometimes. WOT is like sex but slowing down a PITA. I think its a throttle cracker issue, seems to run too rich. I've heard my 102 TB is too big..etc...I'm considering going SD. I just can't keep throwing money at tunners. I'm going to try a BIG rice tunner. We'll see. Oh I did check EVERYTHING for air leaks and re tq'd the intake.

I would tell you to check for air leaks.

Assuming that everything is installed correctly it definitely sounds like a little more time needs to be spent finalizing the tune.

Look at the Desired Airflow, Base Timing / Timing table, Commanded AFRs, etc, etc... It probably needs more idle airflow, at the very least.
