Yea thanks for your help guys that was my plan but i was just thinking about the other options. With a lq4 you can always stroke it and make more power down the road. once i get this car restored i will start looking for a good used 6.0

Another option would be to buy a new 402/408 LQ based short block for about $3500 from TSP or similar, then locate a pullout 4.8/5.3, steal the harness and anything else you need, then part out the rest to get some money back and put together a complete 40x c.i. engine. You might could squeeze in under budget and have a fresh engine that's a torque monster.

Hmm Let me think prices are probably exaggerated

Shortblock - 3500
l92s - 1000
Harness and ecu used - 700
Intake fast 102 and throttle body used - 1500
Cam and valvetrain - 800
Longtubes - 500
Injectors,Rails,etc - 500
Tune - 500
Extras - 600

Grand total - 9600 Over my limit but I am sure I could get some things used for less.

That would be a badass engine in a 70 camaro

I wonder if you bought a longblock from TSP if they would give you some type of warranty ? That's where I'm gonna be buying all my new parts.

Check out our long blocks, If you really want the 408 we have it in long block form on special for $5999 with cnc ported heads, ARP head bolts, melling pump, ect. We can make it a complete turn key carb set up for $8598. We can also do the 371ci long block for $3999 and can build any kind of carb or fuel injected system you need. All motors come with a 12month warranty.

You could use a carb on it. $300 for a victor jr, $325 for a MSD 6010 box to run it, buy a good carb, may can even use the one you have on your 355 if it's carb'd. If you buy a good carb, still around $900 bucks or so, that's $1500 give or take as opposed to $3200 you have listed it would take to do it fuel injected. Just another option you probably didn't need, lol.

I'm going carb in my LQ4 mustang.

I was thinking about going carb I mean its going to be a weekend car so I don't have to worry so much about drive-ability or mpg's. Would I lose anything performance wise with going with a 800cfm carb compared to fuel injected ?

We typically see 40-80rwhp gains by going carb vs injected, Excellent for toy cars and track cars.

Do what? What kind of motors are you building? Most street production engines will not gain near this much.

Yeah that's pretty hard to believe, I could see 10 or 15 hp. A carb would also be alot more convenient when tuning since I'm not very good with fuel injected engines. Will a car with a carb and coil packs run better compared to one with an hei distributer

I have never done it on a off the line stock motor but on our long blocks the gains are amazing. We will have 1 next week doing the swap. I will post the results.

why not a LQ4/9, 1000-1200
Ported L92 heads 1300
Ls3 Intake $250
ported TB 300
cam& springs $800

This can make 500hp?
