Default 393 CID to 396 CID LS1 Stroker

So far, I've decided to move the internals from my Iron Block 422.

(The block and pistons are fine ... gasket was blown at one cylinder and #4 Main Bearing was worn ... apparently not spun ... to the point of low oil pressure. One lifter was worn and one lobe ... but not badly. May get it reground, if that is feasible. I loved that cam's behavior and performance.)

I just want to go back to Aluminum for reasons I've already hashed out.

So, researching it, a couple or three possibilities are:

3.898" bore combination
4.125" stroke: 393.8ci

3.905" bore combination
4.125" stroke: 395.2ci

3.908" bore combination
4.125" stroke: 395.8ci

So 394, 395, 396 CID I know are numerically and power-wise not much difference. But, it's something about that 396 number ...

Anyway ... am I right on this? And does common sense say use the smallest bore for reliability, if the block needs no more? Or will boring it to 3.908 really be a problem?

Thanks in advance for your comments.

I hear on the 396 number. Bore it to 3.905 and just say its a 396. Round up.

hm. i like the numbers, but dont know how well that bore/stroke combination will work (probably not good with nitrous/boost). it'd be a torque monster for sure!

I'm hoping it works well with the boost.
