So you shaved yours .040 and barely had problems so with That EPS Cam I should be ok because its a little smaller and ill be slightly higher then stock compression with about 65cc chambers. Sounds like a winner to me. And of course I'll measure anyways while the motors out of the car. That EPS cam sounds like it should have some pretty nice torque and plenty of power. I'm looking for 11.50 1/4 mile times and I think this is the ticket

Its still a pretty decent sized cam. Like I said if I can reach 425-440 rwhp with stock or slightly higher compression with these 317 heads and cut an 11.50 or lower ET I will be one happy camper.

was curious about 317 heads and using .040 x 4.010 cometics gaskets? i plan on running some low boost with em (10psi) but dont want to lose a ton of low end torque due to the lower CR on my 5.7L.
With the above combo inputed into the CR calculator, it gave me 9.9:1 CR but just wanted to make sure that using this thinner gasket is ok?

Flycut and mill for right compression. Do it well or leave it alone.

Default clay

I used to get piston marks like that and with .030 valve to piston clay clearance. I think that's from missshits and or weak springs not pulling the valves back up in time getting help from the pistons lol. clay numbers anyone??

Default pushrods

o yeah. After doing ur own flycutting make shure u roll ur pushrods to be sure they are perfectly straight. If bent even a little u will loose power.

Always best to flycut pistons while the engine is apart, hell you may get tired of the cam and want to go bigger , and for the minimal cost its best to get hardened pushrods and be done with them as well ( no rolling required lol). This way they too can handle the bigger cam as well when the time comes.

I take it you didn't measure your PTV clearence but at any rate those are some nice valve reliefs.

No that is because when things heat up clearances change that is why its recommended to be at .080 clearance or better.

I picked up almost 60whp going from stock 317 heads to .030 milled 243 heads on stock gasket and small retune.

Just dont skimp on springs, pushrods etc when you do the cam swap.Should make good numbers if your chasing figures.
