Also the OP should try blending the oil pump casting ports and pop a .060"
shim in the bypass spring to kick the pressure up a bit. Just make sure
to put the geroter gears back in the housing the same way they came
out so the non-beveled side doesn't chew up the casting. I'd
consider the PSI maxlife springs if set on the bee-hive style.
Two best quotes of the thread. You need to stay under 230 in duration at .050" to keep your low and mid-range robust and you'll need to stay under .600" lift for reliability with most beehives.

I was really interested in the spartan cams that Damian has been spec'ing. They're putting down power I would be happy with. I've been thinking about getting a custom ground cam with the XE-R lobes on the intake and XE on the exhaust. 228/232 with .588/.581 lift and 111 lsa. The only thing I don't understand or know how to spec is the ICL...I think I read in one of his threads between two cams I was looking at that it was a 108 ICL. Pat idk if you'd charge me to "ok" this cam or not but can you tell me what you think?

228/232 .588/.581 111 lsa
intake lobes: XE-R, exhaust lobes: XE
108 ICL
And thanks for chimin in fellas. I will blend the pump when I pull it off to replace the timing chain. I'll do some searching to try to learn a little more about that spring mod your talking about. Thanks guys

I appreciate it man. I've done a hell of a lot of reading over the two years that I've had this car. I'm looking for the same cam you are...something around high 220's to low 230's duration and below .600 lift. I've seen awesome results time and time again from these set ups. It's so hard to make the final decision though due to the enormous amount of options in the range of camshaft size I'm looking for

In that case 228R should be the best bet
