Default valve train noise

with big ish cams and double row valve springs do you get a bit more valve train noise then a standard set up?

My setup when it originally came from the builder was quieter then stock. Its now about the same as stock or maybe a touch noiseir. But really you can't hear over the rest of the car.

Some cam lobe designs contribute more noise than others. If you are looking for a quiet valve train a custom cam can take that into account.

Could be, the plastic intakes on these motors amplify noise. Generally, if it just sounds "busy" it is okay. Isolated, very loud "ticks" however, can be the signature of something amiss.

it won't be the intake as i've got individual throttle bodys i've just been out in the car again as soon as it gets hot you can hear the top end

i think i'am going to pull the oil pump back out and check it

right before i start pulling the engine apart again my cam is a esp 236/242 111lsa when worm it sounds like a sewing machine it has double row springs and ls7 lifters the oil light takes 2-3 secounds to go out when starting up hot or cold

would you being checking the oil pump or is it normal with this size cam?

also if you are using stock rockers the trunnion bearings could be a little worn .maybe get some comp trunnion bearings from TSP.

Before I pulled it apart in response to a momentary oil light, I would at least check the oil pressure with a mechanical guage.

I just finished my VRX5 install and double spring kit and I have some noise. Not to bad though. I plan on changing out heads and all before long.

I got a comp 224/230 with comp 918 springs and comp 7.4 pushrods and when listening real hard under the hood I got "sewing machine" noise too. I just attribute it to the comp xer lobes with fast ramp, I agree if you get a custom cam or something like an eps cam would quiet the valve train noise down.
