LS7 lifter identification??
LS7 lifter identification?? I will be looking at some used parts in DFW tomorrow and need a bit of assistance if it's possible.
How can you visually identify LS7 lifters? I would prefer not to get scammed if possible.
Are there distinct outer differences? Any numbers engraved anywhere? 1.5 hours of searching created more questions than answers. In some pictures LS7 appears to have shorter machined areas and in others larger.
Some vendors have a GM picture of "LS7" stock replacement lifters that appear visually identical to many other photos of LS1s.
I'm wondering if GM just used the same picture for both part numbers.
I am aware of the multitude of threads regarding length. I'm interested in outward appearance as compared to the earlier lifters ONLY. I will be verifying push-rod length with the checker anyways...

On the outside they measure the same overall length, the difference is in the cup height, the LS7 lifter cup is Higher in the bore than the LS1s. So your pushrod length will be different. Just order them from GM there the stock LS engine replacement lifters.

If you look at the body where it comes to the roller, the LS7's body encapsulates the roller, LS1 is open.

several company's make the LS7 lifter (for GM i believe). Eaton makes LS7 lifters, i cant think of the other company name that makes LS7 lifters. some holes face top bottom (Eaton LS7 lifters), some holes face front to back (the brand i cant think of). hope this helps
