Default Anyone with HEMI heads on their LS?

Anyone out there with HEMI heads on there LS powerplant? I'm curious to see if they are even worth swapping. I know it's probably impractical/expensive to switch to HEMI heads, as you'd have to pickup a ton of parts that were previously only compatible with wedge heads... but, cost aside, are they worth it???

Also... I'm not sure how HEMI heads would fit on an LS1 in an F Body, it's pretty tight in the engine bay to begin with?

Just not worth the effort when there are plenty of awesome heads available for the ls. But hey im sure someone eventually will waste the time and money on the r&d

Yea that's what I mentioned... There are so many people out there making serious power with just some CNC'd 241s or 243s, an LS6 intake and a good size cam. But I'm somewhat interested in HEMI heads because thinking about it, average HEMI designed heads should drop the compression wouldn't it (probably lower than 317 heads)? And I want to pickup a turbo sooner or later and having HEMI heads and some low compression pistons... you could run a LOT of boost on pump gas (assuming you have better internals) since the compression would be so low. Again, it does go back to the cost/effort, which is why I wanted to see if anyone would vouch for their performance.

Hell, it takes a 1/4 of the time to change plugs on an LS1 in an RX7 than it does on an LS1 F Body (big fail GM!). On top of the HEMI heads not fitting, that blower doesn't look like it'll fit either! Back on topic... I'm guessing those heads were never mass produced? Otherwise I'm sure I wouldn't have even started this thread if they were... HEMI LS1? That's a nice blend of a classic design with modern technology that has a bunch of potential. Maybe one day a company will perfect some HEMI heads for the LS... hopefully before GM finally drops the pushrod LS series motors

man that looks ridiculous...

That double staged rocker setup is just asking for trouble. Actual hemi heads don't have that. They have shaft mounted rockers with offset lifter bores. Plus a real hemi head has 2 spark plugs per cylinder.

Here is a link to show what they are capable of!!
http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/...c=&Search=true

But its still cool just cause its so crazy!

Yea **** on hemi heads...a new modern fuel injected 426 crate motor only makes 590 hp...that's with a pretty hot cam...if you put a hot cam in an ls7 you are looking at 600+ hp easy...

It's funny you brought it up but I have seen LS series hemi heads...it would be trick but prob have to have a sheetmetal intake I imagine...

Seriously? You're using crate motors to make an argument?

Although I own an F Body I actually love Mopar's... NOT new Mopar, that's just a goddamn disgrace to domestics. Old Mopar has always been my interest. And as for a HEMI, it's just a head design, so why not put them on an LS? I'm crazy about forced induction, so HEMI heads would really help with opening up the boost potential on an LS. I could go with some 317s on an LS1 and call it a day, but imagine how much boost you could run with the bigger combustion chambers of HEMI designed heads?

If I hear good things about them, I'll pick them up sooner or later as well! I'd greatly appreciate a thread on how they are. You plan on using them for a boosted application?

I see they are capable of just about as much as an LS3 head...which reinforces my argument that a HEMI is nothing more than a bandwagon name plate.

Ls7 heads outperform the HEMI heads.

At 10,000$ for a set of heads, I'll pass.
