This. Period.

If you aren't willing to spend the money and make it work... Go with a smaller cam. Will the bigger cam work? Sure... But why put added stress on your valve train and have worse MPG and not as easy to tune and run the same?

I like my big cam, but with an M6 I'd want some grunt to help while changing all those gears to help get the mass of the car moving again.

the 228r is what i'll be going with in my car. I'm setup with 4.11's behind my m6 but i don't NEED a big cam the 228r should give me the kick in the pants i'm looking for with a nice decent lope that ive wanted for quite some time
