Default LS1 Barbell blockoff for dry sump.

Hello.

I plan on using this handy dandy adapter for the back of the block for my pressure in off my dry sump pump:

But I have been worried about blocking off the rest of the ports around the barbell. Is there anything past the barbell that stops the barbell being pushing in more? If there is no oil pressure on the inside area of the barbell, will it just be pushed in by the pressure? The port in the left of that picture will be the one I am using, the two other tubes going down are going to the oil filter. Maybe it would just be best to block the oil pump out port in the front of the block and the two going to the oil filter just to be safe?

Thanks.

I am thinking about taking the barbell out completely, and just blocking off the back with a freeze plug type of block off. Any reason I can't do that? The front where the stock oil pump is will be blocked off, and the two filter ports will be blocked by the pan.

The barbell directs oil to the filter. With a dry sump, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to leave it out and plug the hole With a core type plug. At which point it would just pressurize the entire area where the filter passages are.

I'm not 100 percent on this but it seems logical.

Just a quick thought, how does the ls7 work around it? Maybe you could incorporate that design into it?

The LS7 is a fake dry sump, still picks the oil up off the bottom of the pan. :/ Won't be much help here I don't think.

Why not just talk to Kurt about this? Going to the people who make the product is always a good idea.

I see...this honestly seems like a subject that should have already been covered on here. I'm suprised nobody else has chimed in.

I have the oil schematics somewhere, I will see if i cant find them and post them up. should give you some insight.

here you go. from looking at this, once you add your "pressure in" fitting at the rear of the block, it looks like you could just leave the barbell in. the barbell will not sink further into the block as it beleive it is a tapered fit. however, I would still put core type plugs in the two oil filter passages to keep pressurized oil off the sealing surface of the oil pan, as the pan gasket is not designed to hold pressureized oil.

my reasoning for leaving the barbell in is keeping oil out of the unused passage since the oil pump is non existant. I would be worried with having oil just chill there and not being able to circulate freely, It could get way to hot and break down faster over time.

again, strictly opinions...
