Default ported/polished LS1 heads

i can pick up a set of stock LS1 heads for around $125, does anyone think that it would be worth it to get them and have them ported and polished? I am eventually going to start looking at a cam but don't want to do a package with the heads. Any input would be appreciated!

I think that is a steal for a set of heads! They usually are around $500 or so for each. I know Scoggin Dickey sells ported and polished LS1 heads for $700 each so if you can get the work done for $1k or less you would save so big time dollars. If you don't get them tell me where they are at!!!!!

I does make it nice to have a set done and ready when you want to do the swap. Then the car is down for less time. Most shops doing the work have the cores already can get you a set and then you just send in your heads whan you swap them off. We keep many cores in stock for all our head porting.

Well hopefully they are still there (this was a bout two months ago that they were offered to me). How much of a gain do you think that i will see compared to my stock heads, and does anyone have a suggestion as to where to get the porting and polishing done at?

Looking at your current mods I would say maybe 20-25rwhp. Add headers and a cam and hold on! Looks like Nasty Performance could do them for you. How much would something like this cost Nasty?

You could start with a basic port and polish upgrade the springs and new seals w/ stock valves for under $1000. Then the more you want done bigger valves some more porting.... our Stage 2 heads cost $1600 and make over 400rwhp with a good cam.

Sorry about that. I did not see the LT's in your sig so that's one less thing to worry about. Thanks Nasty! I know where to ship my heads off to when the time comes.

I saw some one might be interested in used and new ls-1 or 5.3 heads, I picked up 6 sets of ls-1 and 5.3 heads off of ebay. The 5.3's were $149 for one set and $89 for another set and I got two new sets of ls-1 heads(perimeter bolt pattern) for under $200, shipping included. I'm using them for practice porting.
