Question HELP!! TR cam stamp - is it right?

I bought a TR224/112/.563 cam used. It's mint but the markings don't make sense.
On one end of the cam hand etched is "T5873"
and under that stamped ""2870 A"
Please look at the attached pic.
Is this right?

I'll check into both of these Monday. I didn't have time to check today for yours, Andrew.

I've been wondering the same thing about the cam that I bought.

I've seen pictures of Thunderracing Cams, and some of the actually have TR230... blah blah blah.. whatever the first number is.

I was a bit worried about the one that I bought because it didn't have that.

It's almost like yours.. It has a stamped number and then an etched number.

The cam should be a TR230/224 .575/.563 LSA 111...

Depending on when the TR cam was purchased, it may have different "styles" of engraving on the backside of the cam. The earlier versions had just an engraved serial # (ex. UF5466, B4533,etc.) and another stamped core number. The later versions had the same engravings as the earlier versions, but an engraved part # was included (ex. TR224-12, TR224-14,etc.).

No problem! If you anyone purchases a TR cam used and wished to verify it is indeed a TR grind, just email me the serial # on the backside and I'll get look it up in the Cam Pro Plus computer at work.

Jason
that is great information, thank you!
I wonder though..wouldn't the stamped core number be like say, the advertised duration/h for hydrualic or something? Or just a plain old "2870 A" means the cam started from a "2870 A" piece of stock before being ground to specs identified by the hand engraved serial number?

Either way - you'll be able to hook us up Monday from the computer?
That's AWESOME man - really nice of you to offer

Correct, the "2870A" is just the core # and has nothing to do with the actual specs of the cam.

I'll get the info for everyone Monday.

OK, here is the info everyone was looking for:

OB8417: originally doctored on 4/15/02, TR224/112, 224.3/224.1 .564/.563 111.6 lsa

OB9824: orginally doctored on 5/6/02, TR224/114, 224.0/224.1 .562/.562 113.5 lsa

T5873: orginally doctored on 10/19/02, TR224/112, 224.3/224.1 .563/.563 111.8 lsa

UD1078: originally doctored on 3/6/02, TR230/111, 230.5/224.6 .575/.561 111.0 lsa

V1468: not found in the computer; there was a V1486, so I don't know if you mixed up the last two digits.

There were the cam IDs that people posted here or that sent me their info via a PM. If anyone needs another one checked, please let me know.

Tripp, you can send the cam to Thunder and we can doctor it on our cam doctor. This will let you know exactly what the specs are. We charge $25.00 plus shipping.
