Do I need high volume or high pressure?
Thanks guys
If the engine's oiling circuit becomes less restrictive for some reason, then you'd need a higher oil flow volume to achieve the same oil pressure at the same engine RPM.
So if you increased the pressure relief valve setting on your oil pump, you are essentially allowing the pump to "over work" by putting out more pressure (and hence more volume). If the stock oil pump couldn't put out enough volume to achieve the newer high pressure relief setting, then that would require an oil pump that put out more volume per revolution to achieve the new pressure relief setting.
I'm talking about the performance characteristics of a positive displacement oil pump.
