There's alot more to a converter than the specs they list. Fluid flow, blade pitch, stator design, etc. Are you planning to hit a certain number on the dyno or at the track?

You can buy my car it will run a 10... If you wanted to run a 10 you should have got a ls1 or ls2. What is your cars wiieght? If you gut it you might be able to.

correct me if I'm wrong here.. but 450whp isn't enough to put these cars in the 10s is it?

I'd think you gotta be closer to 500 to break the 11s?

I'm shooting for 11:1 on my motor, I'm using 59cc heads. Stock the L92s are like 72cc right? Pretty big. Milling them .030 should get them into.... ?? 65cc or so? About what you'd see on a stock ls6 head I'd guess. (I'm not plugging it into any calcs here just.. sorta pulling a number out of the air. )

I imagine tho with the right head gasket you can get to 10.5.

the L92s flow well and are cheap heads that put out good numbers on the 6.2 blocks, but I dunno with our dished pistons if they're really a tremendous benefit to us over something like a ported 5.3 or ls6 head. that's why I went with PRC's 2.5 Ls6 heads instead. It cost a good bit more, but I'm only shooting for ~400whp with mine.

I suppose its all speculation until the motor goes in. I can't give you an estimated number because mine isn't even done yet. It's just a pile of parts waiting on more to be added to the pile.

400 rwhp gets ya a 11.7 full lbs. With 275 drag radials. 450 rwhp same thing gets low 11's anything over 450 and its a guessing game.

What Ive been hearing is I should have between 63-65 cc heads either way it should be a ton faster than the stock lt1 it had in it.
Searching for more parts now I might just end up with a 402

hey man the way I look at it.. (the way I've forced myself to look at it so I'll stop complaining on my own build thread, not that you're doing this.. but everyone knows I have. )

is.. you can do this more than once.. you really can!

sure once its in the car its a lot more difficult to stroke it.. but consider it this way..

lets say you fall short, say you're even short of your minimum of 425 (I doubt you will be short of 425..) it may not be what you want, but is it more fun than your lt1 now? hell yes it will be.

So.. drive it like that, "put up with" only 418-423whp () and scrape together the parts you need slowly to make a 402, 408 what have ya.. and shoot for 600whp next time around.

I went with the PRC 2.5s over AFR 215s cos it was a LOT cheaper. If I miss my power goals.. oh well.. I can always spend more money later.

I am doing the exact same build. I've got a low mile LQ4 and I decided to do the L92/LS3 top end. Cam is a 231/236, heads are having .010 taken off, .040 Cometic gasket, and 3600 yank. There are other supporting mods but I will be looking to be in the N/A 450whp area as well. I went with the dished piston and ARP's in everything, to benefit from a small shot. You have to remember not to get caught up on dyno numbers though with a stalled auto. Shave as much weight as possible, and the numbers will show up at the track.

Asking out of curiosity, but if you did it with an LS1 block, why couldn't he do it with a 6.0? Same thing, just a larger bore.

cos larger engines make less power!

na.. I think he means cos of dished pistons and lack of compression without some extra effort.

Are you going to put the engine on a engine dyno? If you can get the crank hp i could tell you close to what rwhp would be.
