Short block questions.
Here is my battle plan so far:
Fulltime race gas motor.
346 or 347 cid forged internals
High compression pistons 12 to 1 or better.
200-300 shot of nitrous (direct port through an LSX intake)
Must work with my new heads (PP Stage 2 5.3's)
Now here are my questions on how to spec this motor:
1. Do I need a forged crank (assuming I can hit 800hp on juice)
2. Will I have reliabilty problems with such a high compression ratio?
3. If I select domed pistons with reliefs, can I go with a bigger cam then my new 231/237 from TSP?
I plan on upgrading to an LS1 Speed complete fuel system, a FAST LS1 system. As you can see from my signature, I have a full drag suspension, with all the best toys. My goal will be to run mid 9's without having to freshen the motor every year. The car will see the track 6 or 7 times per year, and have some weekend street duties. It's just a toy, and I don't need it for work, or to get groceries.
What should I do? How should I spec the motor? Any advice, help would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to stay positive over losing my low mile original motor (14,400 miles w/ only 4-5 bottles of nitrous run through it)
