forged stroker kit for boosted ls1
Getting ready to fix up our old worn out '99 ta. Car has 160k and is ready to be retired as a daily driver. After many back and forth build ideas, I think I have settled into keeping my ls1 platform with forged internals, 317 heads. I plan on adding boost to achieve 600 hp. I was originally going to start with the 5.3, but when you start adding up the cost of forged, I reluctantly gave up on that idea. I just hated having a perfectly running aluminum block ls1 not being used. But when I started adding up what it costs to go forged, and keep the stock crank, that is pricy as well. Let me know if my math is correct. I'm pricing high quality bullet proof internals
Rods $575
pistons $675
coated rings $160
rod bearings $90
main bearings $110
labor to turn and balance crank $410
total $2020
A forged stroker kit is $2100 with bearings. Why would a person keep stock displacement? I have got to be missing something here?

boosted engine dont take as well to long strokes as N/A engines do. if your going with a turbo or blower, I would stay with the stock stroke. you can always sell your LS1 short block and pick up a 6.0 short block, replace the pistons and rods like you planned anyways and keep the stock crank. throw about 10psi to it with a good cam and some work to the existing 317's and easily see 600 at the rear wheels.
