Default checking a cam?

Quick question, is there any way to check a cam stamp (IE what the specs are on it) without pulling it out of the motor? I am not near my engine for the next few months and a friend will have to pull the cam out for me if we have to go that route to check it.... thanks in advance

I think most of them are stamped on the front or very back of the cam...either way you would atleast have to pull the timing cover, gear and chain....
