228R camshaft is in
I have wanted to put a cam in my a4 for sometime, but keep the stock heads.I was looking at the 224 but i've noticed that it is becoming old news. What are the specs on ur cam and where did you get it?

My TSP 228R is a 228/228 .588/.588 111LSA.. I ordered mine from TSP. Here is their link. Great service. http://www.texas-speed.com/
I'm coming up on a year with mine in the car. Mine sounds the same as it did from day one. You might wanna check and see if a rocker arm came loose.

yes there is this sound associated with this setup and most other XE-R lobe cams.
Yeah my valvetrain is kinda loud. I am on my second set of heads and the same thing. I am still using the stock rockers though, so could they be a problem? The guy who did the install said it was normal for my cam. Any ideas what to try out to quiet things down? Thanks
The sound you are hearing is not a problem, rather a side effect to the fact that the valves are opening farther, and closing faster, all by virtue of a stiffer spring. Each time one hits the seat it makes a little click, and a bunch of them make a sweing machine sound. Even my little TR220 cam is noiser than stock.

Yeah the sewing machine sound is way more audible than stock..
I misunderstood you and thought you meant that it was louder 6 months down the road than when you first installed the cam..
