Default installing lifters...

I am to the point in my heads and cam install where its time to put the new lifters in. I noticed there is a hole in the side of the body and when i put the lifter in the lifter tray the hole can either be up or down once installed. Do these holes need to be uniform up or down? Or does it even matter? Sorry this is my first time.

Are they ls2 lifter trays? If so the notch on one side your talking about goes towards the center(towards the intake). The ls2 block is slightly different and needs the clearance in that spot.

Its an ls1 block with ls1 trays and ls7 lifters. Sorry im a bit tired. The holes are actually on the side of the lifters after i looked at them again.

When I did my install I just put the lifters in, no special orientation...don't over think it! Good luck

The lifter body is recessed around that oil hole so it doesn't matter what the orientation is.

Notches in the trays should be down on a gen 3 block. As said above oiling holes in the lifter make no difference
