Default Help me please! Install Cam or go nitrous?

I'm so confused that I don't know what to do.. I presently have a TR230 cam with rods and springs. There's about $400 worth of stuff left to get to complete the install. Plus another $550 for LS1Edit and dyno tune.

I've been very tempted to just sell the stuff that I have a buy a nice nitrous setup..

If you guys were in my shoes, which route would you go?

Just do the cam. The power is always there and you'll have a lot of fun. You already have most of the parts. No reason to switch horses in the middle of the stream.

If you feel the need for more power afterward, save up for the nitrous.

GO WITH THE T.N.T WET KIT. a cam is worth 25-30hp and alot of work. the n.o.s can go from 75 to 150 hp,no cam will do that. 2-tenths faster with cam OR 1-sec & 2-tenths faster with the hose, you decide. goodluck to ya.

Except for the fact that the TNT wet kit has a real serious habit of blowing the intake manifold off of these cars. The manifold is not designed to flow fuel and it puddles badly.

Umm, i havent heard that and ive run about, umm 10 bottles through mine at 100 and 150 and im about to bump up to 200. But back to the thread...

If you have that cam and most of the stuff for it, go with the cam. And you dont have to have the tune done right away. I have a larger cam on a 112 WITHOUT tune and it runs like a champ! With the tune, you just squeeze every lasst hp out of the cam, but you will be fine without it. Go look at the SBSO forum and look under vids (brains) for Jip99z vs. aries, im the pewter car. I blew the head gasket at the line but did run like a scalded dog. Just my 2 cents. And before everyone starts yelling at me saying im wrong, come to houston and you can hear my car run. Maybe ill get a sound bit or a short vid clip of it idling to quite the ignorant.

Nitrous is fine, but a cam is awesome, go with it and just get the nitrous later down the road. JP
