Default Pick my cam!

Before you say it, I will say it for you....I will eventually get a rear end and tranny...but for now they will stay stock until they bust...

Current mods...
Stock Bottom end
Lid
P/P TB
LS6 Intake
42lbs injectors
255 pump
Pacesetters LT's
SS3800 Stall
Full suspension (NO torque arm yet...read above if your asking why)
26' Nitto DR
Basic Tune

What I will get when I buy the cam...
Appropriate sized Springs
Oil pump
Timing chain
Balancer/Pulley
Lifters
Pushrods
150 shot
Full tune
Heads eventually
and cam...

But now I need to know what cam!?

The plan is to get a MS4, but I would like some insight on possible others.

I want the rough choppy idle and dont mind lack of low end torque. The car will be street driven and will see a ton of track time. I will be VERY happy with a sub 11.30 car N/A and sub 10.99 on the ****

So with that being said, give me ideas. But please just dont list a cam and nothing else, give me reasons why you prefer one over the other...

Thanks

Forget the 150 on the strip with the 10bolts!! With DR it will just explode on the first pass. If you wanna do drag races only, I would invest in a 9inch and boltons first. Get 4;10 or greater too..

Keep on reading and searching

But to reach that ET, you better stick with something like the MS4 and weight reduction.

Chris1313 had great results with the streetsweeper 236-240. Sry for saying **** about the rear end thing if you wanna bust it first, I'm kinda in the same boat. The only thing is that mine busted on my first pass...but auto are known to last longer.

I would go with the Trex cam personally; proven performer on the strip.

Id get a cam with a more useable power band for the street. You can get the choppy idle, decent driveability and power to boot. The tru torq cams look nice, and why not consider having a cam specd for you?

I am considering a spec'd cam, however, I know me, and I will get sick of the car and wanna keep building it up which might hurt a custom cam.

Johnny....no biggie on the rear end bashing lol. I realize it is a matter of time, I just dont wanna dish out 2500-3k as long as I dont need too...

I saw you're looking to run off the bottle... Get a T-Rex cam. Great Nitrous cam. Although, nothing is better than going custom if you have the $$$. *might want to get 4.11s, its a big cam.

Custom cam run for 50$ more than an off the shelf, usually.

My builder spec me a 230-236 629/629 on 112, for a street car with great low mid range on stock 3:42 gears. Depends what your needs and goal are...

I would go with the EPS 230/238 cam. It will be a strong performer on the motor and the bottle and not give up as much down low as some of the bigger cams mentioned.

Pat G is who I always recommend for cam specs. He charges $25 and really knows a lot about lsx. Best $25 you could ever spend....

I have ran a ms4 cam for 32 years now. I can tell you a ms4 is not a budget way of going fast, with out a gear behind it your car will be a dog.imo I would go with a eps custom grind, you can get a smaller profile with more usable power, still get the big lope, and will be much easier on everything. Ms4 is a great cam and can haul the mail but without every other mod its not going to be that great. I would go for something in the low 230 range. But talk with them and tell them your plans n mods,

it dose not take a big cam to run low 11s .what heads can you afford ?I would pick a cam based on the heads you will use to get the most out of the whole engine combo.

Just call eps of tsp and they will take care of you,I mean if your set on a ms4 go for it but there are much better cams out without having to have such an extreme car, and you can get a big cam sound on a much smaller profile with a way better powerband, you should also look into the torquer v3 I really like that cam as well.

150 shot of nitrous, 9" rear with 4.56 gears, and a dyno tune. With the suspension and tire you should be 11s. Cam sold separately.....
