I used the ls7 crank and rods in my ERL ls2 sleeved 427. I just machined the snout down in the lathe.

Had it machined down or are you a machinist by trade? I would figure that would be a pretty expensive move. If not, I think I might start looking for a LS7 crank.

I am a machinist but not of the automotive type. Any good shop should be able to do this pretty reasonable. It took me less than a hour.

it honestly shouldnt be that expensive. ill be doing the same thing to mine.

I find it hard to believe that so many people chuck the titanium rods. ARE YOU NUTS? they cost $400 a piece new! they weigh less than 500 grams!
"oh well surely they will blow apart if the engine sees any amount of power"

So all these guys running 9s on a stock bottom end running nitrous are having rod failure? Oh really, because I have yet to see one blow apart all on its lonesome.

anyway.... /rant.

update from the OP on the build would be awesome. video? I'm highly interested in how it all went.

I just thought it would be slightly less given the Ti LS7 rod is a 6.067
keep in mind that rod length does not affect displacement.

Yeah... I kinda figured that after the whole custom piston part, lol. Still curious to see how OP's ride fared. If the valvetrain is set up properly the thing should flat out scream.

The car is doing great. I never got a fast intake to get new #'s. I went to the track and ran a best of 11.7 at 117 with a 1.79 60ft. The 60 ft was horrible because the slicks I borrowed were shot.

Bringing this back up as I'll be getting my shortblock pieces back from TSP in a couple weeks. L92 block @ 4.070, Ti rods, custom Wiseco pistons, Callies 4.00" crank, brgs, etc.

Is the ti rods brg tang orientation the same as the steel rods?

TSP didn't mention anything about chamfering the rod big-end as Eric alluded to, but they are supposed to check all clearances. Wondering what to expect on this...
