Default Pulling crank timing gear: What tool/method to use?

Ready to start buttoning up with new cam/lifters/dr timing set/ud pulley/springs etc...

Can't seem to find a good way to get the crank timing sprocket off, bought several "gear/pulley" pullers, no luck.

If anyone has any thoughts, suggestion on specific tools and/or sources to get them from let me know.

Just praying I get this baby back together right! (Have LS1howto.com and shop manual, will fly!)

Have you tried gently prying between the back of the gear and the block with something? My stock gear was sort to stuck on there to, but it didnt take much for it to pop off with a little help from a screwdriver. Just do it easy, it should be ok.

Good luck with you install!

A 3-jaw puller works good for pulling the crank sprocket off.

We have a two-jaw puller that works wonders. It is a pretty cheap tool, and I believe it came from Harbor Freight.

Good Luck!

Thanks! Was just a matter of finding the right two jaw. The OTC #1025 did the trick.
