Default 4.8L to 5.7L LS6

Hi, I have a 1999 GMC Sierra with 4.8L and 4L60E tranny. I have been hording up parts to build an engine. So far I have the Ls6 crank, Ls6 rods, Z06 cam. Yesterday I bought a brand new LS6 block. And Yes, I plan on putting a Z06 motor in my truck. Any Ideas or comments would be appreciated.

well, if you're gonna have the motor out already, get a different cam, that LS6 cam is great in a car but a turd in a truck. also, if you don't already have a set of heads, i know a guy (me) that has a set for sale that would kick **** on an LS6....as far as your internal motor, do you not have pistons yet? i would get a set of crower forged connecting rods (kick ***, and cheap) and a set of off the shelf forged pistons, that way if you decide down the road to spray it, you can spray double what you could otherwise.

What kind of heads do you have? What cam would you recommend? And what does off the shelf pistons mean?

the heads are LQ9 #317 casting heads with a full stage 2 port/polish, stock valve sizes, rev dual spring kit with harened seats and titanium retainers, all new parts used on the heads. as for a cam in a 5.7 i would go with something like the thunder 224 cam, it makes great power. i have a 222/226 .569/.573 112 comp grind for sale also. off the shelf pistons for a 5.7 are just ones that don't have to be ordered in a custom size, say 4.030 or 4.125", off the shelf is usually a very common size used, and 3.905 is definatly a very common size.
