Default Cam info

my dad seems to think i can put in a cam to my stock 99 ls with out having to change anything , i read the sticky on the cams and clearly says i should change my springs, now my dad is a smart guy but i dont think he knows all there is to know about the ls engines as he is an old school chevy man, i just want another person to chime in and get another opinion

well i think the lobe profile has alot to do with
what springs your able to get by with

theres a reason why you always read about spring changes
in a ls1 among other things

you may want to do some more reading about spring failures and
see if thats what your willing to chance

always change your springs and pushrods

The factory springs are only barely good enough for a stock cam...anything bigger and you will have to put springs in there. Its also a very good idea to change pushrods as well.

You cant even just swap in an stock LS6 cam without changing springs, even though its just slightly bigger than stock. Get a good set of springs, not just enough to get by...valve springs are very important.

Lol dont listen to your dad , the same rules apply to old chevys too. Along with the cam, springs and pushrods. Go ahead and get a rocker arm trunion upgrade.
