a 4.8 with a 23x/23x is alot different than a 6.0 with the same camshaft.. I stated that a 6.0 with milled 317 heads and a 23x/23x camshaft would work very well

lol although a ls6 cam would make a good budget friendly upgrade over stock.. BUT the op is leaving alot of power off the table

He said that extreme power is not a problem he just doesnt want any driveability problems. In his stock untouched heads form, the most he should really look at is maybe 226 intake duration, but even that will give up a little bit down low. Not noticeable, but it still will. I recommended a cam, more than once, but he wants the LS6 cam, so that is what he wants. You can lead a cat to water but you cant make it jump in.

Lol wasn't trying to start any arguements and I haven't said one way vs the other was just looking for opinions of people that have driven different cams to give some advice. I have driven a stock c5 z and it seemed to pull a little higher and not give up any over my ls1 and based on how cheap they are thought could be a good budget option but wasn't sure it woild be worth doing vs waiting and doing a little higher cam and most likely a stall.

Double post......

But honestly I would go with whatever you want. Its your build. You have plenty of opinions. But FYI you can sell a better performance cam for a little more $$$ than you can a used LS6.

look at the application guys, this isn't a 1/4 mile car or a street/strip car. its a 4wd cj7 with a motor swap. big tires, power brakes, power steering........hell i have a 242/248 in the garage that will work PERFECT.........pay attention to the application or what the person is looking to do before you attack with 23+ cams that will be useless in the woods or snow. low end torque with a small cam (ls6, 218, 222 maybe) with a stock converter or mild towing converter will be a much better fit.

My 228r is great and Im happy, but im m6 so i cant comment on how great it would be with a stallIt did surge a little down low before getting it tuned.Ive heard guys with 224R reporting good results with a stall in the 2800 range.I have my stock lq4 cam for sale but i cant recall the specs.

I have nothing but good things to say about tsp cams. I'm sure they could hook you up. Otherwise research, you will find someone who likely did the same thing

maybe look at comp 54-408-11,or 54-455-11 for more power.can't go wrong with a thunder racing tr224 cam with 114 lsa.

Custom grind from EPS

222/226 110+0

Your current converter is just enough for it, and I suspect you wouldn't want one much larger if you spend much time in the sand. Four degrees of overlap should give it just a little chop, and it will make great low end power with stock compression in your LQ4.

Any of these would be a good choice!
EPS, TT1 would be good. (214/220 115lsa)
http://www.engpwrsys.com/index.php?a...od&productId=4
Speed Inc, SI torque (214/220 111.5lsa)
http://www.speedinc.com/catagory.cfm...in%20/%20Heads
Comp cams #54-455-11 (215/223 112lsa)
http://www.ws6project.com/user_stor/...lsa-4-8l-5-3l/
You can also go with a custom cam, like a 215(lsl)/220(xer) 110lsa
