Default Positives and Negatives of a DD with a big cam?

Hey guys, I am almost dead set on buying a polluter cam for the ls1. I'd get the kit that comes with the springs and rods but I was wondering what else (besides a good tune) would have to be done for it to be a good street car.
Anyone have the polluter cam or anything close to it?

Car is an automatic, will have LT's and thats about it

Don't be afraid of a big stall, and when you get one spend the money on s great one like a Yank.

I daily drove my GTO with a 238/242 and a 4,000 stall with no problems at all and loved it

big stall wont hurt the daily driving? I heard that the polluter has hardly any torque in the 1200-2000 rpm range which would be mostly what I would be doing, but would the stall fix that?

Big stall wont hurt a thing, but it will build more heat, put a big trans cooler on it and go. You wont regret it. I daily drove my t/a for years with a futral f11 228/230 had a 3600 stall then took it out and in went the 4200, loved it.

I DD a 238/243 with my T56 and I love it. No issues. It is pretty mild just cruising around, and it screams when I spin it up good. I wouldn't hesitate to go bigger.

The only thing a big cam/stall will hurt is your bank account due to not being able to keep your foot out of it or even driving normal...

It can be alright if there isn't a lot of stop and go traffic.

Its all in the tune when it comes to drivability of a big cam. I daily drive a circle D 5C 4000-4200 and i love it. It honestly drives just as civil as my 3200 stall.

Truth. I used to drive mine daily and it was fine but its not something I would choose to do.

Positives - more power and higher rpm

Negatives - cost of cam & parts, cost of tune, cost of converter, loss of fuel mileage, cost & hassle of changing valve springs.

All depends on how much power you are looking for, how far you drive daily and what you are willing to give up. If you get your heads ported, you can use a smaller cam with better street manners and make the same amount of power.

the only downside to Daily driving a car with a big cam is Valvetrain maintainence...Just means you will be checking springs or replacing springs more often and keeping an eye on the wear and tear of the other parts of the valvetrain for potential problems

Daily Driving my Car in my signature....(except for days when it rains cause I have no longer have wipers...and I dont drive it in the snow..LOL)
2001 Camaro...
cam is a 248/252 .649.646 112LSA+2
Manley dual springs good to .700 lift
Yank PY series racing converter - 5k stall speed..

drives and runs great on the street...
a good Tune makes all the difference in how it behaves...
