Shelf vs custom cam specs?

But you keep stating the exact opposite dumbass! Oh and by the way..the two cams in the original post were desined by a very competant person...namely Allan Futral...not a preschooler. I dont need anyone holding my hand. Did you ever think no one listens to you because maybe you are a dumbass?

Damn
Watch comp cams, lots of engine failures relating to their junk cams. I'm running a Cam Motion grind in mine, and Allan Futral uses them for his cams as well.

You have some seriously flawed logic if you think I'm stating the opposite opinion of 01red, pretty sure I was saying I dont advocate following every internet fad cam that comes along. He said he didnt need to get warm fuzzies from a cam thinking it was special. Both the same train of thought. You buy the cam to do what its designed to do, open and close the valves when and how you want it to. That's it.

And, let me state for the record, I've ridden in a Pat G spec'd car. It was fast. I've ridden in shelf grind cars as well, most were fast. Guy that had the custom was afraid to change ANYTHING about the car because then it would no longer be "perfectly spec'd". Misconception I'd say.

Speaking of fads gregrob...you suggested an eps lobed cam earlier...sounds like you jumped right on that bandwagon! The cam I was considering from futral has not been widely used but has a strong following of those who have actually had it and they love it!

I don't care what you like to grab and rub on...faggit. you have changed sides several times in this thread...get a ******* clue. No one has agreed with you yet! You turned a simple thread into a big ******* argument about something I never asked for in the first place. I don't want a baby *** DD cam...how many god damn times do I need to tell you that! Stay out of my ******* thread if you don't like my direction...I didn't ask you to spec me any ******* thing! Cocksucking bastard!!

Let me straighten one thing out here...there is absolutely nothing wrong with small cams. If that's what you are looking for they are just as good in some cases as many larger cams. I don't mean to sound like I don't believe smaller cams can perform b/c that isn't what I was saying. I simply do not want a baby cam. I don't DD my car and am not as concerned with driveability as some seeing as how I DD'd a trex h/c car before. I have access to a great tuner who can get anything to drive great! It just pisses me of to get blasted over something I didn't even ask for in the first place.

You need an ls6 cam! You don't need a donkey dick cam to make power! Your wrong! I'm right! Agree with me or I will be forced to CAPS LOCK your ***!
Lol. Sorry man, I had to.
But on a serious note, have you looked into the polluter or my favorite, the Texas giant?.
I know the Texas giant is more or less a shelf stroker cam, but I think with a good matched set of heads and exhaust, it would make a great high end cam for drag racing. May not have the best street manners, or be very easy on the valvetrain but would scream up top.
Even using the Texas giant as a startinp point for a custom type cam might be a viable option.

I ain't lookin that big. I feel a trex is even too big for a stock cube motor. I wish I had gone just a little smaller in my old car. Something like an x3 or so. It pulled like a freight train above 4500 rpms but was lacking below that...even with 4.10's. I feel if I go too small I am leaving too much on the table. But I am not going bigger than the 236/239 I posted orinally.

Wow, nice pissing match here.
It sounds like the OP is working with a reputable builder in Futral. I would just ask Allan to speak to the pros and cons of the two different cams in question. If he took the time to custom spec a cam I would think he already has a good understanding of the differences between the custom grind and the "off-the-shelf" alternative that at least seems similar based on the first glance.
