Default Engine Rebuild/ 383 Stroker?

I'm having a local very reputable shop do a full rebuild my ls1, this does'nt include replacing the rotating assembly. They're going to R&R the motor, new bearings, gaskets, ported oil pump, maching work for around $3200. I have another $4000 to spend upgrading performance, this is what I plan on doing.

Head porting by Advanced Induction
LS2 intake ported by Peak Speed Shop
Nick Williams 90MM TB
Futrals Custom grind Cam, something in between mild and wild.
Manley Springs, retainers, pushrods
Underdrive Pulleye
Pace setter headers (Temporarily)
RevMax 3600 stall converter
Tune

I will most likely purch a level 3 Trans from FLT, and the car will not be a D/D any more just a weekend cruiser. Any body got some idea on the potential horse power there? And could someone also fill me in on what I could expect from a 383 stroker, Someone suggested that I might want to do that. I dont know anything about the rotating assembly, except its expensive

Its not that expensive and when I rebuild my engine it will be a 383 stroker, but don't stick your stock heads, even ported on a 383, 430 rwhp is normal for a manual 383 idk what it'll put down for an automatic, but defiantly go 383 you won't regret it just go look at 383 kits on texas speed or somewhere.

So is there a downside of the 383,if I wanted to go that route what do I need to consider, would my other upgrades change? How would a 383 stoker sound compared to a stock stroke also? Im really not looking for that super aggressive muscle car sound at idle, or cruising.

A cam in a stroker will sound milder than the same cam in a stock cube motor. Strokers like bigger cams. I don't know where you have been looking for rotating assemblies, but Texas Speed has them fairly reasonably priced.

Honestly there is no way I'd spend $3200 for a R&R stock LS1 short block. Especially when you could get this TSP 370( http://www.texas-speed.com/p-593-tsp...ort-block.aspx ) for just a tad bit more.

Toss some good heads/intake/TB & cam at it & you'd have a beast.

I have the 241 heads and plan on have them cnc machined and ported. I'm going to find an LS6 intake instead of dealing with that Ls2 intake and having it ported, and all the other expenses that go along with making in work on the LS1.

Big Mike I feel you man but once I figured taxes and shipping, and the fact that I don't want to remove the engine myself I'm looking at about $1k added to my cost.
