Default What chemical to clean deck for Head install?

Lucky for me my engine had the MLS gasket so nothing really to scrape off. To clean it tho...what should I use to make it squeeky clean for proper gasket sealing?

I use a chemical named "Peso" sold at paint stores. It leaves no residue.

wd-40 works really well with a non-abrasive pad

I used automatic trans fluid with mild scuff pad and worked great, be careful the aluminum is soft in that area.

3m sanding disks from autozone with air tools. You'll have both sides clean in 10 minutes. Just cover sensitive areas up real well.

I have never used a sanding disk on any aluminum block as I was always under the impression that they take a little material off with them, which is not what you are trying to do. I always use a gasket scrapper with light pressure and then a product called Pre-Clean which is a chemical that leaves no residue as its real purpose it to make sure metal surfaces are clean before you paint. If there is anything left I will use a flat blade razor with very, very light pressure.

I think your supposed to use the yellow 3m roloc disks, their safe for aluminum. I personally wouldn't put a razor on the block, way too easy to gouge it and end up with a gasket leak.

I just use a razor blade, and some break cleaner then wait a bit, and give it another pass with the blade. I just can't trust any sanding disk on such an important area, especially when dealing with aluminum.
