Can a 3.898 Piston go into a 3.90 bore
I ask because no shop around here has LS1/6 torque plates to finish hone a new 3.9 bore LS6 block to a 3.903 or 3.905 bore.
I imagine it will go in to the bore but I am not sure if the .002 gap is OK and can be made up with rings. Or am I freakin' stupid and I just need to get these finish honed by someone?

The finish hone puts the cross hatch pattern in the cylinder walls and that is what helps the rings seal. I would say that you do need the finish hone. Also a good machine shop will hone the block for each piston that will be put into that specific cylinder. Just my .02 c.

So that answers much of my question. The best way is to get the piston, mike each one, and finish hone to the specs of each piston. I guess that is the best way to do it.
I thought the LS6 block from GM was already finish honed to 3.9 and I wanted to avoid messing with that hone. But, I am not putting in new stock pistons.
