Cleaning assenbled heads
While I have my heads off changing the gaskets, what's the best way to clean the heads. It looks pretty easy to get the intake runners cleaned up with a toothbrush and brake cleaner, but I would like to try and clean up the backs of the intake valves and the CCs themselves. The exhaust runners don't look bad, just a little carbon.
Any suggestions?
Also, anybody know where to pick up a machinist straight edge to check the block and heads for warpage?

It's impressive at how clean combution chambers, ports and pistons stay with unleaded fuels.
If your not going to take the heads apart, I wouldn't recommend scrubbing and washing the ports and chambers too much. The carbon deposits and brake cleaner can work their way into the valve guides and cause havoc. A wire wheel is usefull for removing the carbon on the valves, but requires the head to be disassembled.
Good luck,
Richard
