Default ValveSprings

I know this is a dumb question, but I'm still going to ask..My cam kit with dual springs came in today and I was just needing to know if it is normal for the inner spring to be about a 1/2 in. longer than the outer.....thanks

It depends on what brand kit. I have never saw it. Usually the inner spring is shorter.

IMO, that doesn't sound right at all!
Who ever you bought them from I'd contact and find out what's up.

Never seen one like that...the smaller diameter spring looks like a checking spring for measuring pushrods

No it doesn't. A checker spring is the thickness of a paperclip, that spring is way bigger then that.

never seen that big of a difference. Usually the inner is just a tad shorter. Maybe about an 1/8th of an inch if you eyeball it. If you put them together obviously theyll be the same height but I would call and see if that is in fact how they should be

It depends on how the spring is designed and who manufactures it. In the case of this spring our drawing shows the free length of the outer at 2.085" and the inner at 2.375" so what you see is normal, not defective. I have a number of dual spring #'s that we use, both LS and non LS that are made by PAC which have a taller inner. This is a newer trend which I believe has something to do about the frequency of the inner and outer. There has been a significant amount of spintron testing while developing that spring, when it is installed on the head everything should check fine.

Thanks for clearing this up for me. I tried finding some info on them before asking but didn't have any luck, figured with my luck I might have got a bad set. I guess it's better to find out now than later..lol......thanks again.

I contacted Geoff today before I got to read Mike @ TEA's post and he said this was normal and there was no problem with the springs...IMO you can't ask for a better person to deal with...
