Default Ls1 rebuild

I spun a rod bearing on my ls1. The crank is trashed. Can i get away with just replacing the crank, bearing and rod without having to take the block to a machine shop? Does anyone have an idea on what my have caused this to happen and what i can do to prevent this from happening again? Thanks

Did you lose oil pressure before it happened? How were you driving it just before it happened?

Get away, yes it is doable. Will it last? How long Who knows!
What you are describing is a band aid and not proper mechanical protocol. Some poeple might do something like that to patch a car before sale.
Spinning a rod bearing like that needs proper rebuild.
