Broken Harland Sharp Rocker *Pics*

Look very closely at all the others for stress cracks in that failed area. As Darkman is eluding to ... could be too much spring force. If all the others show no evidence of stress cracks, then it's possible there was a flaw/stress riser somewhere in the one rocker that failed. In either case, I wouldn't trust any of them at this point.

If have not done so already, I would pull the valve covers and check for another broken rocker, bent pushrod, etc. Assuming the valve train is intact, the idle problem could well be tune related. In any event, I would have no confidence in the rocker/valve spring set up with the history of broken rockers.

Ill get the covers ripped off after work tomorrow and check for anything else...Before the breakage i did have a weird idle problem upon cold motor or hard braking it would like to die.Its just its 10x worse now.Would a bent push rod cause such crappy idle?...The car drives once its going its just feels like its down alot of power...

If you broke the rocker, I would also check for a bent valve as the source of your poor idle quality.
A number of things could cause that failure including bouncing the valves (weak valve springs, over rev, etc.), bad geometry (poor wipe pattern), too stiff a spring (previously mentioned). You should try to figure out the cause before it happens again with potentially worse consequences.

wondering if you bent a pushrod then the extra lash in the system beat the snot out of the cup of the rocker and eventually it broke.........or possibly you smacked a valve intern pushing the rocker back through lash area and smashing the pushrod......out of curiousity was it an exhuast rocker??

Anyone know the max open pressure that the hs rockers can safely handle?? Even the YT cant handle safely more than 400 lbs open lift. I think thats why soo many have failure. Doing tons of research here today.
