Default Just seated my timing gear on compstar crank, question inside.

I just seated my jp double roller timing gear on to my crank compstar crank, is it supposed to be able to move back and forth after seating it? It has play in it. If anyone could answer me that would be great

My SLP chain crank sprocket is the same way. Unlike stock it's not a press fit, but rather a slip fit. Mine can be pulled back and forth by hand
