Question blown oil control piston ring?

The other day I did an oil change and when I removed the oil plug I found a spring stuck to it From what I can tell it is an oil control piston ring which woud explain me going through a decent amount of oil. If everything else is still intact will the engine be ok or will there be long term problems?(besides oil consumption) The car is a 99 formula with an ls6, headers and cam and I just got it last summer so I am hoping its not the end of the world since I am short on money. Thanks IA!
