Default Head/Cam combo problems

Alright so I have a 5.3 LM7 and I have chosen to use either the PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads or the PRC stage 2.5 LS6 heads. But I don't know what cam to pair with it for a decent power gain I was thinking the MS3 at 112LSA or the 233/239 .595"/.603" with appropriate springs and 1.8's but wasn't sure if the cams would be too big. I don't want to do a custom cam. Can someone give me some advice?

I would suggest contacting who makes the head and tell them what your goals are for the car and what mods you have. They will be able to give you the best recommendation.

Do not use 1.8s with such fast ramp cams. Then those cams are too big for a 5.3L unless it is a race car. For street Something a bit smaller with a tight LSA will sound nice and provide plenty power.
Ported 5.3 heads would be my choice, but with very little chamber work to keep compression up.

2.5 5.3 heads and a 224/228 .581/.588 112+2 xer cam would do "the works"

Close, I prefer 5.3L heads with a 228/232 .588/595 109+1 LSA.
Heads with 2.0/1.55 valves, cnc ported, very little work on chambers to keep 61/61.5cc without further milling.

I did email him all he said was that the Ls6 2.5 stages would be a best bet for my power goals which is around 400-450 rwhp nothing on a cam even though I asked about it.

How about a 228R? And what rocker arm ratio should I use?

I like seeing more people starting to run the tighter (sub 110) lsa cams and wonder why everyone stayed away from them for so long....so I agree with Pred on this one

I thought the 110 was wider or am I flipping it around? I think the 110 range just gives it a really nice choppy idle and good low end performance

PREDATOR-Z , really knows what will work good! That would be a means sounding, but very drivable cam with just about the same amount of valve overlap as a MS3 with a 112lsa except with a lot more DD useable HP/TQ .

110 is wider than a 109.......that's what I was saying by "sub 110"...109 or less.

It seems like for a LONG time lots of people were preaching 112 and only 112 lol....I'm running a 115lsa, but with my 255/263 duration I have plenty of overlap

It seems like he's had quite a bit of experience so I wouldn't doubt him at all!
