The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I did alot of research on this subject a few months ago. AI is one of the most expensive porting options out there for stock heads. A set of their heads will run you into the $2K arena. TEA is about the same. Of course there are bigger names out there is about the same price range.
I know you have heard or seen this alot, but you really cant beat Texas Speed Perf's PRC heads.
You can get complete CNC ported heads with bigger SS valves and springs for around $1500
Labor and Upgraded parts to your existing heads is what $1500 will get you from the other known names and you supply the castings.
.
Very subjective on who's heads flow better, like expected the guys who payed more for their work will say theres are the best.
My advice would be to get a budget and go from there.
Full CNC is $1000
Which they are not giving you new spring, valves, retainers etc.
Add that all in and your looking at $1500, not to mention if your cores need some addtional work.
Then the real question is "How much money do you have?"
All depends on budget and what your planning on doing. Personally would not sink any money on Small Bore heads. When I get a LS2 or better block "See 4.000" Bore. Then you spend money. Also IF you needed to sell you have something people may want.
Just IMO.

If I really wanted a set of the heads for the street cam I have (228/230 @112) I would go look for a used set and pay as little as I can, upon successful inspection, set it up for new springs and go.
Like said subjective and your point is just as valid, it all depends on what someone is willing to spend.
I half think about a max effort stock cube cam, or heads, or 150 shot... plenty of options.
